George González is a singer-songwriter from Seattle, Washington. Pairing traditional folk tropes and song structures (think Pete Seeger or Gillian Welch) with detailed, character-driven, often humorous lyrics (think Jens Lekman or Craig Finn), George creates contemporary folk music for the folk-loving masses.
George's debut album The Immaculate Dollar of Arlington Heights came out in August of 2017. The record was produced by Brendan Smith and was recorded at Brigham Young University’s Harold B. Lee Library, Discovery Ranch, and in the lobbies of a couple of apartment complexes in Provo, UT.
After visiting the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland and hearing the Celtic tale of its origin, George and his friend Stephen Black decided that giants, hubris, disguises, and marital strife are great topics for songwriting. Still at the Causeway, George and Stephen used their phones to gather sounds that they later chopped into beats (rocks splashing, shells breaking, seaweed slapping, etc) to provide the backbone to a seven-song folk opera called The Giant's Causeway.
